Ferries entering and leaving Friday Harbor
This shot was taken just after the previous post. In the background is the University of Washington campus on San Juan Island, located on the entrance to Friday Harbor

Christmas Day
Just taken at 3:30 this afternoon

The Doctor's Office
Coming off the ferry at Friday Harbor the first thing you see is the Dr. Office. Your local perscription for caffine or baked goodies. Dr Nash will take very good care of you

First aid administered by caffine
The Doctor’s Office is dispensing caffine Rx’s starting about 5 AM every morning for the redeye customers waiting for the ferry.

From the ferry
Photo taken from the ferry just as we approached the Lopez Island terminal. Blakely Island and Obstruction Island in the forground.

Blakely Island in the background
We left Friday Harbor on the redeye (6AM boat) heading for the mainland. I took this shot as we were leaving Upright Channel and heading into Thatcher Pass.

Cannery Village
Downtown Friday Harbor at the Cannery Village Condos, built in 1979 on the site of an old abandon salmon cannery. Pictured is part of the common area adjacent to the ferry landing.

Coming across the Moat
This fellow is operating the “Draw Bridge”. These Islands are just like living behind a moat with the ferry landings acting as a drawbridge. Not often thought of in this way, the ferry service keeps the hoards away and at bay. This preserves a life style that is unique and wonderful.

A way of life for the Islanders
